Chautara Sangachowk Gadhi Municipality is a local government located in the Sindhupalchowk district of Bagmati Province. According to the notice published in the Gazette by the Government of Nepal on 27th of Falgun 2073 for the implementation of federalism after the Constitution of Nepal - 2072, various 12 former village development committees including Chautara Municipality, Syaule, Batase, Irkhu, Kadambas, Sangachok, Tholo Siruwari, Sano Siruwari, Kubinde, Pipaldanda etc. were adjusted and became the current Chautara Sangachowk Gadhi municipality. Currently, there are 14 ward offices in this municipality. Sindhupalchowk District Headquarters Chautara Bazar is also located in this municipality. Chautara market is under ward number five. Located at an altitude of 1418 meters above sea level, the total area of ​​this municipality is 165.25 square kilometres.

Chautara Sangachowk Gadhi municipality is spread in 27 degrees 46' north latitude and 85 degrees 42' east longitude in the global picture. The eastern border of this municipality is connected with Balephi and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality. And the western border is connected with Indrawati Rural Municipality. Similarly, the northern border is connected with Jugal rural municipality and Panchpokhari rural municipality, while the southern border is connected with Kavrepalanchowk district.

In Chautara Sangachowk municipality, which is about 80/90 km away from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, one can visit this town through the Araniko highway to Bandeu and from there through the Bandeu-Chautara road section. Apart from this, you can enter here through the nearby villages.

Population

According to the national census of the year 2068, there was a population of 46501 within Chautara Sangachok Gadhi municipality, while according to the household statistics survey of the year 2075, a total population of 51347 was seen.

According to the latest census in 2078, the total population is 42,668, of which 20,0676 (47%) are males and 22601 (53%) are females. According to the census, the household number is 11,590 and the family number is 11936. According to the new census, the population density of Chautara Sangachowk Gadhi is 258 per square kilometre and the population growth rate from 2068 to 2078 is -0.88%.

There are a total of 38,298 voters here in the local elections of Baisakh 30, 2079. In which 19157 male and 19141 female voters. There are 20 polling stations and 48 polling stations here.

Cultivable land

The total area of ​​this municipality is 19585 hectares and 10275 hectares of land is cultivable. That is, 53 percent of the area is arable. Seasonal crops like rice, millet, corn, wheat, sorghum, barley, mustard, almonds, lemons, tomatoes, cauliflower, garlic, greens, onions, tea, coffee, etc. are cultivated here. The number of people is increasing. Various organic products including commercial vegetable farming are growing on the land here.

Forest

Out of the total area of ​​this municipality, 82.1 square kilometers are covered by forests, which is 49 percent of the total area. Under the small enterprise development program based on forest produce, there is a lapsi processing industry in ward number 1, 4, 7, 5, 8 of the municipality, and in order to generate income from the forest area, laliguras juice, furniture and bio-crete industries are operating in different parts of the city. According to 2075, there are 96 community forests in this municipality.

Educational Institutions or literacy rates

There are 64 child development centers, 41 basic schools, 15 primary schools, and 20 secondary schools within the municipality. Which produces students up to class 12 under higher education. There are also 2 campuses for university level studies.

According to the census 2068, the literacy rate of the city was 63.23% in which 55.92% were female and 72.05% were male.

 Literacy rate according to 2078 is 69.5% of which 77.3% are male and 62.7% are female.

Health Institutions

Being the headquarters of the district, this city is ahead in the field of health compared to other municipalities. There are many dental, clinics and medical facilities operated by the private and community sectors, including the district hospital. Among the community health posts are Batase, Kuvinde, Syaule, Pipal Danda, Sano Siruwari, Irkhu, Sangachok, Kadambas, etc., which belong to all the wards. Some serious patients are sent to Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre depending on their condition.

Religious and Tourism places

Like other municipalities of the district, this city is also an area with great potential in terms of tourism. After the formation of the local government, it can be seen that steps have been taken for the development of tourism by preserving the traditions and culture of the village. The local government also allocates a lot of budget for the development of tourism. Local people believe that tourism is the main source of development. The main religious places here are Gaurati Bhimsen Temple (Pipal Danda), Krishna Temple (Chautara), Bhimsen Temple (Chautara), Chandeshwari Temple (Sano Siruvari), Devisthan Temple (Gidane), Bhadaure Ganesha (Sano Siruvari), Rani Pokhari (Irkhu) and others. There are many other areas.

Tourist areas include Sukute, Dolalghat, Chautara Bazaar, Buddha Park (Chautara), Love Hill (Chautara) and others. Recently, adventure tourism paragliding has also been conducted from Ward No.-09, Kadam Bas.

All the mountains under the Jugal glacier can be seen from most of the places here.

Rivers

Rivers originating from various mountains in the district flow through Chautara Sangachok Gadhi municipality spread in the lower part of Sindhupalchok district. The rivers here are Indravati River, Bhotekoshi River, Kuvinde River, Jhyadi River, Bhaguwa River, Kumbeshwor, Balefi etc.

Various hydropower projects are in operation in these rivers.

Weather

Since Chautara Sangachok Gadhi municipality is in the lower part of Sindhupalchok district, both summer and winter are average here and there is no snow in this area. But because it is in front of the mountain, the cold wind of the mountain blows. Due to the mountain air, some crops are not planted here. Average amount of water falls here even in rainy season. The terrain is not very difficult, there are mountains made of rock, and the rivers are at a short distance, so the possibility of large landslides, floods, and inundation is very low.

Chautara Sangachok Gadhi municipality is a city of multi-caste, multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual people living together with biological diversity. This is the main feature here.

Many sports activities take place within Chautara Sangachok Gadhi Municipality. Football, cricket, volleyball and other games are played here. Tudikhel Stadium is located in Chautara Bazar, which is also the headquarters. There are stadiums for sports in different places of the municipality.
