Chautara Sangachok Gadhi Municipality comprises the former Chautara Municipality and other village development committees (Syaule, Batase, Irkhu, Kadambas, Sangachok, Tholo Siruwari, Sano Siruwari, Kubinde, Pipaldanda). There are a total of 14 wards in this municipality. Its total area is 165.25 square kilometers. This municipality is located at an altitude of 1418 meters above sea level. Chautara Bazar, the headquarters of Sindhupalchok district, is in this municipality. According to 2078, the total population of this municipality is 42962 (20356 are males and 22606 are females). 2. Melamchi Municipality

Melamchi Municipality was formed by including the former Melamchi Municipality and seven village development committees. This municipality is named after the Melamchi market or Melamchi River. Its total area is 160.67 square kilometers. There are a total of 13 ward offices in this municipality. Most of its lands are cultivable. Where rice, corn, wheat, millet, potato, and kiwi are cultivated. Bhotechour tea garden also belongs to this municipality. According to 2078, the total population of Melamchi is 41170 (20073 males and 21097 females). Almost all types of health institutions are run by private and community in this municipality. Tamang, Gurung, Majhi, Danuwar, Newar are the main tribes here. They enjoy their original festivals, and culture and speak their language.
