Jiri Municipality

Jiri Municipality is the local government in Dolakha district.  During the state structure after the new constitution, i.e. during the implementation of federalism, based on the information published in the gazette by the Government of Nepal on the 27th of Falgun 2073, this municipality was established by adjusting the former Jiri Municipality & Shyama village development committees. 

Jiri municipality extends from 27°33'48" to 27°46'26" north latitude and from 86°11'19" to 86°25'50" east longitude. This municipality is located at 1649 meters to 5341 meters above sea level.

The total area of Jiri is 211.25 square kilometres. The eastern border of Jiri is connected with Ramechhap. Baiteshwor & Gaurishankhar's rural municipality is in the western part of Jiri. Similarly, Gaurishankhar Gaupalika is in the northern part. The southern border is connected with Tamakoshi Gaupalika & Ramechhap.  There are 9 ward offices In Jiri. 

Jiri is known as the Zurich of Nepal. Compared with Zurich in Switzerland, Jiri has been given the title of Switzerland of Nepal. Jiri Municipality is a well-known tourist and business centre. There are tourist places decorated with greenery, beautiful waterfalls and rural surroundings around this municipality.

In Jiri municipality, there are community and institutional educational institutions that provide basic to higher education. There are 19 primary schools, 3 basic schools, 8 secondary schools (grades 1-10), 5 community schools and 3 institutional schools in the municipality. Similarly, there are 2 secondary schools (1-12). In addition to 1 campus, there are 2 religious schools and 3 community learning centres in the city.
