Leonpo Gang

Leonpo Gang is a mountain peak located on the border of Nepal (Sindhupalchok and Rasuwa Districts), and Tibet (China). One of the main mountains of the Langtang and Jugal glaciers is Leonpo Gang, 6979 meters (22897 Ft.) above sea level. Leonpo Gang is the highest mountain in the Sindhupalchok district. It is known by the names "Dorle Pahad", "Big White Peak".

This mountain is spread over 28º 11' 44 latitudes and 85º 48' 07 longitudes. Its pick is Id "LEOG". Leonpo Gang is open for climbing and mountaineering.

History of climbing

The Japanese climbing team successfully climbed the Lenpo Gang mountain for the first time on May 3, 1962.
Tadashi Morita and Kazunari Yasuhisa were on that climbing team.

In 1988, a group of doctors from a medical hospital in South Korea successfully climbed this mountain by using a new route.
