Sundarijal to Chisapani Trail

The starting point of this hike is Sundarijal located at the foot of the Shivpuri forest in the northeast of the center of Kathmandu. Sundarijal is a beautiful tourist destination. Especially there are many Buddhist monasteries here. Sundarijal waterfalls, dams, temples etc. are the main attractions. Sundarijal, which is some time away from the center of Kathmandu, is naturally fresh, so tourists come here. The drinking water of the Melamchi river collects at this place through a tunnel.

After buying the Shivpuri National Park ticket from the Sundarijal ticket counter, Chisapani hiking starts. After going a little higher from the ticket counter, you will see the beautiful waterfall. After continuing the journey from there, you will reach the Sundarijal Dam through the army camp in the middle of the forest. There is a small waterfall below the dam. And next to it is the temple of Sundari Mai. After going up from the dam, you will find a road connecting various places of National Park. Panimuhan/Okhreni waterfall is reached from the left side of the road. From the right side, you will find a path to Chisapani or other places.

If you continue hiking, you will reach the beautiful Mulkharka village after walking for some time. This is a village where people from the Tamang community live. There are small shops, tea shops, some hotels here. During the Sundarijal-Chisapani trekking, this is the place where there is a human settlement. From this place you can see the beautiful view of Kathmandu valley. This village is at an altitude of 1895 meters above sea level. Hiking is also uphill from Mulkharka. Chisapani can be reached by crossing the forest paths of Shivapuri, tiring, enjoying the beautiful scenery with the birds. Chisapani arrives from Sundarijal after a 4-5 hour walk uphill.

Chisapani is located in Haibung, Melamchi Municipality-03 of Sindhupalchok district (Nuwakot-Sindhupalchok border area). It is connected to Shivpuri National Park.
