Sindhu Welfare Society Inc., known as Sindhu-USA Welfare Society, is a non-profit organization incorporated by New York state laws in 2010. It operates as a tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The society's mission is to provide quality educational opportunities for orphaned and the most needy children and to help create micro-economic opportunities to improve the socio-economic well-being of economically weak people in the Sindhupalchok district of Nepal.

This mission is achieved by mobilizing and drawing on the strength and resources of the Sindhupalchok community and friends of Nepal in the U.S.

The vision of Sindhu-USA is to transform the lives of the neediest children and their families through education and empowerment, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to become productive members of their communities. The society's objectives include supporting and providing quality educational opportunities to orphans and the most needy by sponsoring their school education in Sindhupalchok, Nepal, as well as preserving, developing, and promoting the socio-cultural heritage of the people of Sindhupalchok in the U.S. through educational and cultural programs.

Additionally, Sindhu-USA aims to unite the Nepali people of Sindhupalchok residing in the U.S. and improve their socio-economic well-being and community. The society provides financial support to strengthen the capacity of social and charitable Nepali organizations in Nepal. The U.S. Sindhu-USA has set several goals to achieve its mission and vision, including providing scholarships and seeking individual/group sponsorships to support the education of orphaned and needy children in Sindhupalchok, offering financial support to build new and improve old school facilities in the district, and providing small grants/seed money to poor families to start micro-economic projects that can free children from household or farm work, allowing them to attend school instead. The society also aims to provide financial assistance to local organizations and groups in Sindhupalchok that contribute to improving educational and economic opportunities for children and families in the district. Furthermore, Sindhu-USA seeks funds to establish a new school, under its umbrella, exclusively for orphans and children from economically impoverished families, offering them free quality education up to the twelfth grade.

Mission

The Mission of Sindhu-USA is to provide quality educational opportunities for orphaned and the most needy children and help create micro-economic opportunities to improve the socio-economic well-being of economically weak people of Sindhupalchok district in Nepal in the long run by mobilizing and drawing on the strength and resources of the Sindhupalchok community and friends of Nepal in the U.S.

Objectives

  • To support and provide quality educational opportunities to orphans, including the most needy by sponsoring their school education in Sindhupalchok, Nepal
  • To preserve, develop and promote the socio-cultural heritage of Sindhupalchok in the U.S. by organizing and supporting educational and cultural programs, such as Nepali-American art exhibitions, stage performances, seminars, and forums.
  • To unite the Nepali people of Sindhupalchok currently residing in the U.S. and help improve their socio-economic well-being and that of their community
  • To provide financial support to strengthen the capacity of social and charitable Nepali organizations in Nepal and the U.S.
